Health Tips from family practitioner,
Roya Seysan, MD

To improve your health, Dr Seysan recommends taking vitamins and supplements daily, exercising, seeing your family practitioner for annual physicals, and taking prescribed medications as directed.

Aerobic exercise such as riding a bike or walking every day for thirty minutes is highly recommended as is taking a daily multi-vitamin, B-100, and fish oil. Women should also take calcium supplements.

When researching about health issues, Dr. Seysan recommends the American Academy of Family Physician's website, www.familydoctor.org and www.WebMD.com. Please click to learn about colds and the flu, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, allergies, mental health, stomach and intestinal problems, cancer, and sexually transmitted diseases.

International Travel Vaccinations

More information about the flu, particularly the H1N1 flu virus, is available at www.cdc.gov/H1N1FLU.

The best source of information about vaccines can be found at www.cdc.gov/vaccines/. Parents are encouraged to read about vaccinations.

The Center for Disease Control Travelers' Health website offers information to assist international travelers and their health-care providers in deciding on the vaccines, medications, and other measures necessary to prevent illness and injury during international travel. Read more at the CDC website.

A family practitioner can best coordinate care for you and your loved ones.  By establishing a long-term relationship with a family practitioner, key indicators of your health are monitored: EKG results, blood test results, height and weight, urine samples. Your risk for chronic diseases are regularly assessed and medical advice is shared to protect you and your family.
